HOW TO GET VLC WORKING PROBERLY. READ IT CAREFULLY!
Most fail to install VLC proberly since VLC messed up them web part of them otherwise awesome player. If your are using newest version of VLC after version 1.0.5 your experience might suffer on most webpages and sites using the VLC plug-in. After VLC version 1.0.5 the VLC team just messed it more and more up so it ain’t working proberly.
HOW TO REMOVE OTHER VERSIONS OF VLC THAN VERSION 1.0.5
If you don’t have or ever had VLC installed then just skip to installing VLC.
Now open your “Control Panel“. In your control panel look for the icon named “Add or Remove Programs” and double click that one to open it.
When you have double clicked the “Add or Remove Programs” a window should appear similar the window on the left. Scroll down and look for “VLC media player” and when you have found it select it with 1 click on the mouse and click the “Change/Remove” button once.
When you have clicked the “Change/Remove” botton once a window should popup similar the windows illustrated below.
Just click the “Next >” Button to proceed with the Uninstall.
Now the Uninstall will proceed similar the window illustrated below.
Before your are clicking the “Uninstall” button it is highly recommended you thick on the “Delete preferences and cache” checkbox illustrated below.
Now click the “Uninstall” button. If your computer ask to restart or reboot as illustrated below, please do so before taking it to the next step.
Now click the “Finish” button for the Uninstall of VLC to be complete and wait for a reboot if prompted for doing so under the VLC Uninstallation.

Important: If you have Quicktime installed on your computer there’s a big chance it will not work, Quicktime is known to overtake settings vital to VLC. (Basicly it wanna take over all rights to play any “.SDP” filetypes which most VLC channels are using on this site) Meaning having both Quicktime and VLC installed on the same computer is a no go for most users. So don’t come complaining after if your still trying get VLC working together with Quicktime on the same computer. Now it’s said and before taking it any further please delete whatever Quicktime version you might have installed following most of the same procedures as when uninstalling the VLC Plug-in above.
Please notice: This download is strictly Windows. VLC is also available on Mac’s and Linux but since this guide is for windows, Mac and Linux users are on them own. There are a few Mac and Linux users who got VLC working on this site, you might wanna drop a message on the board see if someone maybe can help you getting VLC up and running.
INSTALLING VLC MEDIA PLAYER AND PLUG-IN VERSION 1.0.5
If you chose “Save As” while downloading VLC you will need find your VLC icon where you saved the VLC download file and double click the VLC Icon. Now your windows might show a similar window as the one illustrated below.
Now this is windows way to ask you if you are sure you wanna run the VLC install file.
No need to worry about security issues since the VLC software you just downloaded is from the official VLC website so it should be 100% safe. Also the VLC site is very trusted, they do many thousands of VLC downloads each single day.
Click the “Run” button to start the VLC install program. After having clicked the “Run” button a new window will appear as the the one shown below.
VLC version 1.0.5 comes with about 13 mostly European languages. Just pick the language that suits you best in the language dropdown box illustrated on the left.
Afterwards when you have selected your language in the language dropdown box on your left just click the “OK” button to proceed.
Now the following window will appear as illustrated below.
Before you continue it is vital you shut down any running Internet browsers. When you have made sure that you don’t have any internet browsers running you may continue by clicking the “Next” button. Just click the “I Agree” button on the next window below.
When you have clicked the “I Agree” button above the following window will appear as illustrated below. Now it’s vital you follow instructions from now on because this is where most users get it wrong and why it will not work if those steps ain’t followed carefully.

Notice: Mozilla plugin is deselected by default. For make VLC work proberly in Firefox, Chrome, Opera or Safari Internet browsers it is vital you thick on the “Mozilla plugin” as illustrated below. Now because most people don’t read some or any at all while installing software this is why it simply ain’t working because they overlook this when installing VLC and without the “Mozilla plugin” installed there is no way any VLC channels will show in neither Firefox, Chrome, Opera or Safari Internet browsers. The Internet Explorer browser uses the “ActiveX plugin” instead and this should have been thicked on by default under installation. If it’s somehow not thicked on by default on your screen, then now is the time to thick it on if you also want to watch VLC channels using the Internet Explorer browser.
For make sure VLC will run in all comon browsers check that both “Mozilla plugin” and “ActiveX plugin” are thicked on as illustrated on the left. It’s also recommended scroll a bit down until you see “File type associations” and unthick that one. Basicly if you keep it thicked on the VLC Player will from now on start as default player for most your media files.
Here is illustrated with unthick’in the “File type associations“. “So should I unthick those File type associations or not?” It depends really, if you are happy about the players that opens by default when you click and open your media files (DVD’s, MP3′s and most video files) then you defenetly should unthick all “File type associations“. But do remember many people do say VLC is one of the best players out there. So if you would like a player that can play most files without installing any codecs at all and comes with great support for playing DVD’s then VLC is defenetly a good choice. It does a splended job playing DVD’s, MP3′s and most video files what so ever. Also as default media player.
When you are done with all your VLC install settings above it’s time to click the “Next >” button to continue. The next window is illustrated below.
Just click the “Install” button to continue. Now VLC is being installed on your PC. When the Installation is done the following window will be shown below.
Click the “Finish” button above and let VLC player be launched for the for the first time. Now this VLC install did not prompt for a restart or reboot on this computer, but if somehow it does request for a restart or reboot, then now is the time for reboot your PC.
The first time VLC runs it will show a screen as shown on the left. The “Album Art Policy” can be left as it is unless you want VLC download cover images for your MP3′s and video files. Change it into what suit your needs. Now it gets important since we do not want the VLC check and update with any newer versions of VLC.
|It is very important you unthick the “Activate
the updates availability notification.”
Click the “OK” button. Now start your browser and visit Hacked Cable TV Dot Com and try click any VLC TV channel there.
