The 96th Tour de France starts in Monaco, with a 15.5km long time trial. This 2009 tour start is perfect for the specialist to aim on the first yellow jersey of this TDF. It’s not a fully flat time trial, as it goes upwards from the start (5m) to a col of the 4th Category (205m), and downhill again to Monaco to finish at the harbour of Monaco. The only hill is 7.2km long at a slope of 2.7%. Perfect for the strong riders. The last rider will finish at 19:30 local time. Have fun and ofcourse feel free to discuss on our forum! Official comment: “This Tour’s spectacular start will separate the men from the boys. The inaugural time-trial will take place but the strenuous route is unusual for a time-trial on the first day. One thing is sure: none of the presumed front-runners will be able to hide.
