After Golf balls manufacturer TaylorMade-Adidas signed the Spanish golfing hero – Sergio Garcia, in 2004 to use its golf clubs and golf clothing – his farther was quoted as saying that he had aspirations of his son using a TaylorMade golf ball.
“The game of golf revolves around the golf ball”, “You simply can’t play a game of golf without it” – you can play golf without a golf driver and a golf putter – but to play without a golf ball is impossible.
A conversion between Garcia’s farther and TaylorMade’s CEO has witnessed the start of his son using a TaylorMadeTP red golf balls at the Masters. This shortly followed King’s statement deciding that the golf ball would become the company’s number two product behind its metal golf woods.
As part of the agreement, TaylorMade will launch another two golf ball ranges under its Burner brand in an attempt to influence the Metal golf woods franchise. In 2008 it is anticipated that golf balls will make-up over 50% of the manufacturer’s entire business and will range in price from $20 to $45.
Golf equipment retailers have welcomed the strategic re-position after agreeing that Maxfli was all but finished. All agree that the TaylorMade brand will have a greater opportunity to reposition itself from the competition.
The industry has heard such promises before and are sceptical that the company will live up to the hype and dedicate enough financial muscle to make the golf ball a creditable choice for the golf enthusiast.
TaylorMade have recognised that much work will be needed to attract, appeal and retain a wider target market. It is believed that TaylorMade will double its marketing budget for golf balls in 2008.

I was frustrated with my golf game to say the least. I worked hard at it however I couldn’t get any better than an 18 handicap.I watch the Golf Channel and read Golf Digest religiously – there was something missing in my golf swing and I could not put my finger on it.I was your typical bogey golfer – if I started my round of golf on a good note I usually did pretty well and would shoot mid to high 80’s. If the wheels on my golf swing began to wobble I would find myself tinkering with my golf swing on the golf course – a recipe for disaster! My golf swing was far from perfect but functional. I had incorporated an early move in my backswing that allowed me to swing the club more to the inside and at the same time fan the club face open. I learned this move because if I timed my impact just right, I seemed to hit the golf ball farther. However this move in my golf swing was hit or miss – sometimes I smoked the golf ball down the middle of the fairway – and sometimes I snap hooked it into the woods. So ended my 2006 golf season and still no progress – handicap 18 and holding steady. The 2006-07 winter here in New England had been unusually cold, snowy, and LONG! – It was now spring and my golf swing still rusty from the long winter layoff.Needless to say, I was anxious to start my 2007 golf season with high hopes of really making an impact on lowering my golf handicap from the 18 I had been sitting at for so long. Then in early May 2007 my brother in law told me about this golf swing move he learned from an old dusty golf book that had done wonders for him – a move he said puts his golf swing on plane early in the swing. What is this move you ask??Read on…The early backward wrist break! As I began to practice the early backward wrist break my golf swing felt very weird. I thought “this can’t be right”. However I stayed with it and continued practicing this early backward wrist break.I gradually began to notice the golf club felt much lighter as I swung…I also began to find it easier to drop the golf club into the “slot” during my downswing allowing me to really attack the golf ball from the inside. Then I suddenly realized, “I’ve been yanking the golf club way too far to the inside at the start of my backswing, and now my golf swing is on plane!”"This is why the golf club feels so much lighter; I am now swinging the golf club on plane!”I noticed a more penetrating ball flight with my irons AND my woods…The golf ball was now exploding of my clubface! Also, I noticed the golf ball was sounding different coming off my club face – it sounded like – “click”.And this story gets even better…Five days after learning the early backward wrist break I carded my first ever hole-in-0ne!To read the story on my hole-in-one, simply Google: “john lynch hole-in-one” spelled exactly as is without the quotes.I quickly developed much more confidence in my golf swing – I now knew where the golf ball was going. This confidence transferred to my short game and I began to score on the golf course.I was now thoroughly enjoying the game of golf!I was no longer happy with pars; I now wanted birdies and eagles! In three short months my handicap had already dropped to a 10 – that’s 8 strokes! My dream came true in May 2008 when my handicap dropped to 0 – scratch golf!!All because of this one move early in my backswing!I can truly say without a shadow of a doubt the early backward wrist break has totally transformed my golf game and I wanna shout this out to the world!!One year ago I was an 18 handicap, I am now a scratch golfer!!Hit ‘em Long and Straight!John Lynch

Humanity’s curiosity has led to obsessive scientific study of our lunar companion, to the point that we’ve landed spaceships on it. While it’s hard for the moon to maintain much mystique after Alan Shepard hit a golf ball off its face with a 6-iron, there’s still a bounty of secrets to go round.

It seems as though many golfers are unaware of the importance the hands play in the execution of the golf swing. Obviously, we know that the hands grip the golf club and attach the body to the club. But what is the importance of them during the swing? The answer has to do with releasing of the club. Let’s go back and do a quick golf biomechanics review. During the swing, from address position to follow-through, the hands are active in a passive type of manner. Let me explain. The goal of the golf swing is to move the club on the correct swing plane to induce the intended golf shot that you want. This occurs through the body’s moving through a series of positions. These positions are found within the different phases of the golf swing. The phases of the swing are address, take-away, backswing, transition, downswing, impact, and follow-through. During all of these movements the body is performing, the golf club is being moved upon a swing plane. The swing plane is the path upon which the golf club is to travel. Proper impact with the golf ball requires the golf club’s traveling upon the correct swing plane. In order for the club to travel on the correct swing plane it is necessary for the clubface to open and close. Oftentimes, in golf terms the opening and closing, of the clubface is termed “releasing of the club.” This is where the hands become an integral part of the golf swing. If you talk to almost any instructor, they will say that any good player has “great hands.” This statement refers to exactly what was described above (the releasing of the club correctly). It’s obvious if you look at players such as Tiger, Phil, or Vijay. I even remember walking the course at Doral in Miami with top-5 teaching instructor, Rick Smith. One point he continued to return to in terms of discussing the golf swing was “hands.” He stated more than once how any PGA Tour player has great hands. This just provides additional support for how important the hands are in terms of the golf swing. But what does this all mean? Well, we know the hands are involved in the “opening and closing” of the clubface during your swing. This movement allows for the proper release of the club. As I mentioned, the hands are “active in your golf swing, but in a passive manner.” Again, to open and close the clubface during the golf swing the hands move back during the backswing, hinge at the top of the backswing, return the club to square at impact, and release the club afterwards. In order for this to occur the hands must be passive! What do I mean by passive? You cannot force the hands to move through the golf swing and release the club. This creates tension in the golf swing, affects tempo, and, overall, results in poor shots. If you do not believe me, go to the driving range, grip a club as hard as you can, and attempt to swing. The results will be much less than optimal. I think Dean Reinmuth, ranked by Golf Digest as a top-30 teaching pro, puts it best when speaking about the hands in the golf swing. He discusses “feel” as an integral part of the golf swing. He states that in order to have a successful golf swing you must be “tension free.” “Feeling” the club move on the swing plane is an indicator of being “tension free.” And in order to have this feeling, your hands must be relaxed (i.e. passive). How do you develop good hands in your golf swing? Easier said than done. In order to develop “feel” in the golf swing, remove “tension” from your golf swing and develop great hands, you must develop three fundamentals. Fundamental number one is an understanding of the golf swing. In order to know what the body and golf club are to do during the swing you must know the biomechanics of the golf swing. If you don’t, how are you going to know what the body and club are to be doing during each phase of the golf swing? Secondly, you must develop the mechanics of the golf swing. Your body and mind must integrate the movements of the golf swing into a repeatable movement. This occurs through proper instruction and practice of the correct golf swing mechanics. Finally, it is necessary to develop the body. Yes, the body! Your body must have the flexibility, strength, endurance, and power to perform the golf swing correctly. If the body is inflexible, weak, and powerless, how are you going to be able to perform the mechanics of the swing correctly? The obvious answer is: you are not! Developing great hands in your golf swing comes down to developing a “basket” of fundamentals within your golf swing. Understand the biomechanics of the golf swing, develop the proper mechanics within your golf swing, and develop a body to support your swing. These are the keys to developing great hands in your golf game.

Playing golf is not just picking a golf club, placing a golf ball on the ground, and hitting the ball as hard as you can. It requires passion, determination and strategy. Hitting a golf ball requires the proper posture, proper golf club, and proper swing. In playing golf, the proper swing is very important as this will determine where the ball will likely fall.A proper golf swing should create a perfect impact on the ball. In order to do this, one must everything about golf as much as possible. Here are some golf swing tips that one has to know in order to elevate one’s swinging standard.First, before hitting any golf ball, one must know the basics. Basics include the proper golf stance, golf club, and familiarity with the golf course. These basic elements are important in order to have an accurate golf swing. For example, no matter how good a person swings if he uses the wrong golf club, the result will be a disaster. The same is true with respect to one’s golf stance. The proper golf swing is impossible if one’s posture is sloppy or incorrect.Second, after knowing the basics, one must know how to hold a golf club properly. The club is held in front pointing away from your body in a 45 degree angle. The position of the hand varies depending on what kind of grip one uses; it may be the baseball grip, the overlapping grip or the interlocking grip. No matter what kind of grip one uses, the important thing is that one is comfortable with how he holds the golf club.Third, swinging is easy if one is relaxed in doing it. The trick is to swing the golf club and follow through. When the club hits the golf ball, continue the club’s motion and do not stop it. As a result, the golf club will move 180 degrees from its point of origin. This graceful swinging motion cannot be achieved if one is nervous or worried. Do not be afraid of hitting or not hitting the ball because the more you think of hitting the ball hard, the lesser chance that you will make a good swing. Always remember that through confidence, a perfect swing may be achieved.Other golf swing tips mainly focus on the swift motion of the club, proper practice etiquette, use of golf swing trainers, and watching golf tutorials. All the golf swing tips found on the Internet, in golf books and manuals, or on flashing golf swing tips during a golf tournament, have the same purpose of improving the way of playing golf. All the golf swing tips have no use if one does not have any background about golf because it is a complicated sport in which many things are to be considered. It is not like basketball wherein one just dribbles, passes, and shoots. One must know something about golf to understand the more complicated aspects of the game. To sum up, in order to achieve the best golf swing, one must be able to understand first what golf is about.

The woman golfer has a myriad of questions on how to develop the correct golf swing as does most any amateur. The questions from woman golfers center on a myriad of topics such as; how to hit the golf ball farther, how to develop a more repeatable golf swing, how do I hit half shots with my wedges, what are good putting drills? The list can go on and on in relation to the woman golfer and how to improve their golf swing. An area that is now presenting more and more questions from the woman golfer centers upon golf fitness. Questions such as; what are good golf flexibility exercises, and how can golf fitness exercises help me drive the golf farther? These and many more questions are arising in relation to golf fitness and the woman golfer.
It is well known on the LPGA tour the number of players utilizing golf fitness programs to improve their golf game. Annika Sorrenstam has publicly stated the benefits she has received in her golf game from golf fitness training. One area that always appears to be a concern for the woman golfer is distance. How to hit the golf ball farther and Sorrenstam does hit the ball a long way, and utilizes golf fitness training. A simple connection can be drawn between increased driving distance, women golfers, and golf fitness exercises. The bottom line is this; golf fitness exercises can benefit the distance of drives for the woman golfer.
The questions that need to be answered are how and why. First off an understanding of increased distance, the golf swing, and the woman golfer needs to be addressed. Driving distance is contingent upon clubhead speed. The faster the clubhead is traveling at impact with the golf ball. The golf ball will travel farther, an easily understood concept.
Clubhead speed in the golf swing is contingent upon two components. Component number one is golf swing mechanics. The biomechanics of the golf swing in and of themselves create clubhead speed. It centers upon physics and the coiling/uncoiling of the body during the golf swing. In relation to improving clubhead speed and golf swing mechanics. The more efficient the woman golfer performs the mechanics of the golf swing. A greater amount of energy can be developed and transferred into the golf ball as a result. First and foremost for the woman golfer; the development of efficient golf swing mechanics can improve driving distance.
The second component of increasing clubhead speed is the body. Remember, the body is the implement swinging the golf club. It is the woman’s body executing the biomechanics of the golf swing. In addition it is also the body generating power for the golf swing. Power is the ability of the body to generate the greatest amount of force in a short amount of time. Increase the ability of the body to generate more power within the biomechanics of the golf swing. An increase in clubhead speed can occur. How does the woman golfer increase power outputs of their body? This is where the implementation of golf fitness exercises can be a benefit. Golf fitness exercises can increase the power outputs of the body. Power golf fitness exercises increase the ability of your muscles to develop more force within the golf swing.
How do golf fitness exercise achieve this outcome? Golf fitness exercises develop the body around the golf swing: Very different than ordinary fitness training or aerobic classes. Golf fitness exercises develop the required flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power within the body for the golf swing. This allows the body to execute the biomechanics of the golf swing correctly. In addition, golf fitness exercises can improve the swing in areas such as clubhead speed.
This is accomplished with golf fitness exercises training the body in the positions, movements, and physical requirements of the golf swing. This allows for the proper levels of flexibility, balance, endurance, strength, and power to be developed within the body. Improving the capacities of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power can improve the ability of the body to perform the golf swing and increase distance.
To summarize, the questions surrounding women and developing the correct golf swing are many. How to improve the golf swing through golf fitness exercises is one of these questions, and one specific area within this topic is distance. Increasing distance is contingent upon increasing clubhead speed. Improving clubhead speed centers upon golf swing mechanics and the body. Improving the efficiency of the golf swing mechanics will allow a greater transfer of energy into the golf club, thus improving clubhead speed. The second component of distance lies within the body and its ability to generate power. Increasing the power outputs of the body will enhance clubhead speed. Power outputs of the body can be improved through golf fitness exercises. These exercises differ than normal gym based exercises in that they develop the body around the swing. This allows for the proper levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power to be developed within the golf swing.

Being able to choose the right golf ball could be just what you need to turn an awful game to a wonderful one. However, it does not mean that you should just trot out and buy the golf ball that Tiger Woods uses to instantly turn you into a world champion. You would still need to choose the golf ball that would work for you.
The three different types of golf balls are: two-piece balls, three-piece balls and high performance balls.
If you wish to improve the distance shots you are making, you would need to use the two-piece golf ball. If you wish to improve your accuracy, then you might opt to use a three-piece golf ball or a high performance golf ball.
For beginners, two-piece golf balls would be more advisable as they are cheaper compared to the other golf balls. Also, two-piece golf balls would be great for those who are slow swingers since these balls have a larger rubber core, which would assure a faster speed.
For golfers whose accuracy is inconsistent, two-piece golf balls would also be the better choice, because three-piece golf balls just would not do if you would be making a couple of inaccurate hits in a game. Also, if you are still working on your precision, high performance balls would not be the best way to go as these balls would be more suitable for the professional golfers who have already mastered their games.
Golf balls are definitely something that you would need to give importance to as you learn more in golf and as you work on your skills to become better st your game. Being equipped with the right type of golf balls that would work to your advantage would definitely improve your score and eventually help you move on to the more competitive playing field.
